I've been elfed!

My roommate found this online. Click on the link below! From left to right: Emily Moulton, Laura Hess, Nicki Schoonmaker.

ElfYourself

p.s. for me it wouldn't work in Mozilla, but it would in Internet explorer. I am sure I just have some setting working against it, but if it doesn't work for you in Mozilla, maybe try internet explorer!

BYU vs. Utah

Yet another year it came and went and yet again we didn't decide to win until the last few moments of the game. I have to be honest, I thought most of the game was lame- not a single touchdown until the last 2 minutes of the game, but I suppose the glory of winning a tight game is worth it. After the game we rushed the field. It was great. Here's a few of the photos which I will remember the game by. Wish that more of you could have been there. It was a great time!

Check out my Slide Show!

Sunday

So, last Sunday, my roommate Laura and my friend Emma and I made tacos for lunch. I actually didn't get to cook with them because I was at a meeting, but I came home to this amazing meal of tacos. After we ate, there was a little bit of everything left, but not enough for us to have more tacos so I put together this totally amazing plate of nachos. I know that it is completely crazy, but it looked so beautiful that before we started to eat, we had to take a picture! It's beauty lasted only moments and then we devoured. Really this is my typical Sunday afternoon. Often, friends in the ward will get together for either lunch or dinner. It's really nice to do something casual and together. We all get so busy that I hardly see any friends throughout the week, but I love having Sunday afternoons to cook and visit and read. It's a favorite part of the week.

Lucas' Birthday

Last Friday was my friend Lucas' birthday. We had a mini birthday party for him. Unfortunately, most people were at mission reunions, so there were only a few of us, but it was a nice relaxing Friday night. We didn't have candles to put into his birthday cake, so we decided to use matches instead- six because he turned 24 and 24 is divisible by six. Good times- college is always an adventure.

What is new?

Welcome again to the update of my little life. Things have been crazy busy for me. I'll tell you that after starting the last two semesters of school in a state of recovery from surgery, it isn't something that I would recommend! It makes things rather adventurous. Really though, things have turned out well. My classes and work are keeping me very busy this semester. I have a lot of hours of actual class time so I spend a vast majority of my day on campus and my time at home doing homework and sleeping.

So, I tried to take a picture of my hand to show off my fancy new scars, but it didn't work very well- I included it anyway though- maybe I shall replace it later, but for now I can't really move it so that's the best I can do. I found out from my doctor that I had this extremely rare condition that the styloid process of my ulna bone was too long so it was damaging the carpal bones. As such, he removed the process. Apparently a procedure that is very rarely performed and a condition that is very rarely seen. What can I say? I'm one in a million!

Finally, news about grad school. I flew to Kansas City last Wednesday and had an interview at a small university called Rockhurst. I was actually very impressed with the school and the faculty members that I met. I should hear from them in the next few weeks about whether they will accept me. It's crazy to be thinking about going into a doctorate program, but really exciting too. Every time I go to the hospital to volunteer, I fall more in love with physical therapy. I can't wait to be doing it- as career and not a patient especially. :)

Surgery

Some of you know, but others do not know, that I had surgery this past week on my wrist (again). It has been giving me problems since the last surgery and there was no indication of why. I had it scoped and my doctor thinks he found and fixed the problem. Good news!! Hopefully all will be well again soon.

Graduation

Laura, my dear friend and roommate walked graduation this August. We met freshman year in DT and it is hard to believe that our BYU saga will soon come to a close. This is Laura,Lori (my other roommate from last year) and me after Laura's ceremony.

Buffalo Chip Throw

At the beginning of August, Trista came out for a visit to Utah. Saturday morning we went up to Promontory Point to see the Golden Spike historic site. We were lucky enough to go on the day of the railroaders festival. One of their many exciting activities was a buffalo chip throw which we both participated in. Before we could throw, we performed a "buffalo chip rescue" to collect the needed chips. This is both of us before the throw. How did we do you ask? i got second place in our division (and I got a ribbon for it) and Tris took about 5th.

Welcome!

So, I decided to have my hand at a blog. I thought it would be a nice way to keep you updated on the happenings in my life. Hope you enjoy!

July 21....

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- You've heard of it (probably from me at least once). Two of my roommates and an old roommate went with me up to SLC to get the book. We spent the evening at the party in the SLC library (which is an amazing place) and then went to the Gateway Mall to pick up our books. We read the first two chapters together in the car on the way home. It was a blast!!

The Costume

Josh's work (The Hale Center Theater) rents out costumes and invited me to dress up for the evening if I would hand out fliers. I happily agreed and spent the evening looking like a real live Hogwarts student.
